| Description | Mr Boulton being sensible that you and your good family participate in the very great & general anxiety which attends the present most painful & critical state of his health, I have his directions to give you all the consolation that the circumstances of the case will admit of by informing you that the faculty have been employed this morning in endeavouring to ascertain by the usual means the important fact whether or no a stone be actually formed in the urinary reservoir & the result is at present highly in favour of the comfortable opinion that his disorder does not proceed from so awful a calamity. You will be fully sensible what Mr Boulton’s feelings must have been during this eventful scrutiny. It is intended to resume the investigation into the real cause of Mr Boulton’s excruciating torments as soon as possible, the result of which will I trust be of such a nature as to shed some further rays of hope & happiness to himself & all around him, in which case I shall be anxious to impart them to you. Mr Boulton is inspired with confidence that he shall in a few days be able to request you to make your promised visit which in the present situation of his health would only distress you.
