DescriptionGentlemen,
Our next door neighbour, Mr. Hyslop in Fenchurch Street, has applied to me to ask whether you had any intention of painting the outside of the window frames and sashes, &c., of this house.
He is about painting his house outside, and, as the two houses are uniform, this house will appear more dirty when the other is painted than it did before. If you have no objection it will greatly oblige Mr. H. and also be the means of preserving the windows from decay, as they have not been painted since the beginning of 1802.
I am, gentlemen, your much obliged servant,
John Mosley
[The following draft reply appears at the foot of the page.]
M. & R.B., J.W., & Co. would have gladly accommodated Mr. Hyslop in regard to the painting of the house, but the present advanced season is so unfavourable to outside painting that they prefer to postpone it to a more favourable period of the year.
