DescriptionThe wages paid to labourers at the Foundry are 14s. a week, excluding overtime and other privileges of unloading coals, etc., in their meal hours. The wages paid last summer to Thomas Jackson, the foundation sinker, and his men, were 18s. a week, excluding overtime. Jackson said when he was working elsewhere (“D. Work”) he had a further allowance of 6d. a day for drink. Ward cannot say whether there has been any increase in labourer’s wages this summer.
