DescriptionWas for over twelve years a merchant at Calcutta, trading to London in East India produce and manufactures. On a visit to England to re-establish his health, his property was captured and he was taken prisoner, which, with other losses, has rendered him destitute, and he seeks a new livelihood. His wife is sick and has gone to the country, expecting to give birth soon. He is attempting to obtain a subscription to purchase a lieutenancy in the militia, and seeks pecuniary aid.
