We regret exseedingly at having to make a very unfavorable report to you of Mr. Stephenson, who is materially worse today—a very active mortification took place during the night, which wore a most alarming appearance this morning, that has somewhat abated since, but the medical men this evening tell us, there is a great deal indeed to apprehend & very little to hope, from the present symptoms.
