| Description | Parker's programme on the York Mystery Plays was a short item in an Omnibus programme about the York Festival, broadcast on BBC 1 in 1973. In this, Parker argued that the Mystery Plays were written to be spoken by craftsmen from the craft guilds of York and should therefore be performed by people with Yorkshire accents. He talked to craftsmen working in York Minster and in the local area about their work and asked them and other people from the local area to read extracts from the plays. The papers (1 file and 1 envelope) include research notes and guide books; production papers; draft script; film script; post transmission papers and 19 black & white photgraphic prints of medieval scenes (building, farming etc.) from various manuscripts in the British Museum. |
