| AdminHistory | Evans & Pumphrey: Benjamin Evans, maltster of 46 Smallbrook Street, took Josiah Pumphrey into partnership in January 1824. In August 1826, Evans & Pumphrey took over the malt and hop business of George Bragg, who moved on to the wine and spirit trade. Evans & Pumphrey retained Smallbrook Street until about October 1826 after which they operated from the malthouses in Weaman Street. Benjamin Evans died in January 1827 at the age of 39.
