DescriptionCorrespondence of Mr. Plenderleith, Secretary and Superintendent of the Middlemore Homes, concerning the evacuation of Middlemore Homes children during the Second World War. Correspondents include the City of Birmingham Education department, Ilmington Road School in Weoley Castle, Princethorpe Road Junior School, Kings Norton Secondary School for Boys, Paul Cadbury, the Youth Hostels Association regarding the lease of Wilderhope Manor, Shropshire Education Committee, Sister Brocklehurst (Matron at Wilderhope Manor) and Fairbridge Farm Schools. The file contains some correspondence regarding the boarding of named children at St. Edward's Orphanage in Great Malvern, at Leominster Orphanage and in some private homes. The file also contains copies of letters from John Cadbury to Paul Cadbury on the subject of Wilderhope Manor and correspondence with suppliers of equipment and building contractors. The file includes dental reports on some named children.
