| Description | Card index for boys in after-care (under 21 years old) sent to Canada and Australia by the Middlemore Homes. Index cards typically include the name of the boy, age, date sent out to Canada or Australia, address in Canada or Australia and the year the boy will be removed from the after-care register (will reach 21 years of age). Some record cards includes dates of after-care visits. The cards are separated into two sequences, the first for boys coming off the after-care register in the 1930s and the second for boys coming off the after-care register in the 1940s and 1950s. The cards cover children emigrated in the 1920s and 1930s. |
