| Description | 'The Hostel' was located at 276 Monument Road, Edgbaston. It opened in September 1921 and provided residential accommodation for unmarried mothers and their babies. The mothers residing in the hostel went out to work as day servants.
'The Hostel' was established and operated as part of the activities of the Association for the Unmarried Mother and Child, but a separate sequence of annual reports were produced. The surviving reports in this series cover the period 1921 - 1930 and 1941 - 1948. 'The Hostel' closed in June 1948 and its work was amalgamated with the work at Hope Lodge. |
