| Description | These volumes contain handwritten notes on cases of unmarried mothers assisted by the Birmingham Association for the Unmarried Mother and Her Child.
The notes typically include the name and address of the mother, age and marital status. Entries also include brief comments on matters such as the date the baby was born, the name of the child, place of birth, affiliation orders, details of the father if known and previous places of residence particularly if the mother was from overseas. The amount of information given in each case varies and the volumes are written in an informal manner.
Five of the volumes in the series (MS 603/7/2-6) are written in the same hand and the notes appear to have been made by Mrs. I.V. Miles, Case Officer. |
