| Description | Each year the Midland Adult School Union Education Committee (see MS 702/1/2/4) organised a Spring Conference. This consisted of a day of lectures on a particular theme. Speakers who were experts in their field were invited to participate. Topics included unemployment, creative leisure, local government, education, peace, the family, the public health service, the United Nations, immigration in the Midlands, a multi-racial Commonwealth, the fire and ambulance service, the work of the city's police service, care for those with mental health problems, care and education of the disabled and so on. |
