| Description | Joint meetings for men and women were held from 1889. Women's meetings continued, but with a different focus. See SF/2/1/1/2 for details. A report is included, dated March 1887, when members of the meeting went to see Charles Dickenson Sturge and Wilson Sturge regarding the insolvency of their grain importing company which had originally been set up by Joseph and Charles Sturge in c. 1822. Insolvency was considered to be a disownable offence by Friends but the report concluded that the failings of the company were caused by factors which were out of the control of Charles Dickenson and Wilson Sturge, so they were not disowned. |
