| Description | The Cadbury Sisters' Scholarship Fund was established via a bequest from Emma Cadbury (1844 - 1928) to the Friends Central Education Committee with the intention that the scholarship would be held by girls from Warwickshire Monthly Meeting to enable them to be educated at a Friends School.
The executors of the fund suggested that it should be named after the Cadbury Sisters as Emma Cadbury's sisters shared her interest in education. Other members of the family added to the original legacy sum of £689. The Central Education Committee transferred responsibility for managing the Fund to Friends' Trusts Limited. As the Scholarship was to benefit girls in Warwickshire Monthly Meeting, the Meeting appointed an Awards Committee in July 1930.
By 1962, in part because of the small amount of income from the Trust Fund, a lack of applicants and a tendency of other Trust Funds for Friends Schools to merge, it was decided to transfer the Cadbury Sisters Scholarship to the Education Committee (see SF/2/1/1/4/9). |
