DescriptionThe Priory Rooms in Upper Priory were built in 1860 to accommodate the Women's Adult School of the Society of Friends, which was founded in 1848 at the Ann Street School [Colmore Row]. A house called 'Burley' in Streetly was acquired in 1906 as a 'Holiday Home' for women and was known as the Priory Holiday Home. It was available predominantly to members of the Priory Union of Women's Adult Schools but also accepted women from other Adult Schools, and aimed to provide them with an opportunity to have a restful break and change in the countryside.
