| Description | Printed abstracts of marriage certificates contain the following information: the date of marriage, the name, residence and occupation of the groom, the name of the groom's parents, including his father's occupation, the name of the bride, the name of the bride's parents, including her father's occupation, the location of the ceremony, and the signatures of the parties, the witnesses, and the registrar or clerk to the meeting. Full certificates also stated that notice of the marriage had been given to the meeting(s) involved, there was clearness from impediments to marriage, permission had been granted by the meeting to proceed, and included the wording of vows. |
