| Description | In November 1968, Friends at a Hall Green meeting of Elders raised a concern that there was no Quaker meeting in Solihull. The matter was taken to Hall Green Preparative Meeting which authorised it to be raised at Warwickshire Monthly Meeting. In February 1969, the subject was introduced to the Monthly Meeting, which gave its support for a recognised meeting to be started in Solihull with elders and overseers. The first meeting for worship took place on 20th April 1969 in rented premises at the Manor House in the centre of Solihull, with a congregation of 25 Friends and Attenders. The meeting continued to flourish and from April 1970 was stable enough to apply for and be granted Preparative Meeting status by Warwickshire Monthly Meeting. Solihull Local/Preparative Meeting continues to meet at John Palmer Hall, Solihull United Reform Church.
See SF/3 for a description of the functions of the Local/Preparative Meeting. |
