| Description | It is unclear when the Sunday School Adult Class was established. The classes were largely secular in content, and included lectures on national and local history (particularly in relation to the history of the Old Meeting House and the working classes), geography, public speaking, politics, mathematics and science, as well as religious and moral instruction. The chairman of the meetings was the class's teacher, Mr Sadler. Prizes were offered to students for regular attendance, and social and recreational activities were also organised, particularly during the Christmas period. |
