| Description | It is unclear when the General Meetings of the Congregation were instituted. The functions of the meetings were similar to those of the New Meeting House and Church of the Messiah (see UC 2/3/6 and 7). The meetings were convened to consider and approve general business brought forward by the minister, chapel wardens and Vestry Committee, which could include the appointment of new ministers or other church officials, approval of major building works and alterations to be carried out on the church and its buildings, or the administration of associated charities, Sunday Schools and other institutions. |
