| Description | The Spilsbury Butler Fund appears to have been set up to administer a legacy left to the Old Meeting Church by the late Mrs. Spilsbury Butler, a former member of the Old Meeting Church congregation. The sum was paid out to the church in 1889. According to some copy minutes the money was invested, with £210 worth of stock purchased from the Madras Railway Company with the interest drawn utilised by the wardens of the church to undertake minor repairs and alterations to the church building, namely the pulpit and lectern (see UC 1/9/2/1/2). |
