| Description | In 1863 the teachers and friends of the Old Meeting House Sunday Schools decided to raise a sum of money to erect a memorial tablet in the Old Chapel, which was moved to the new church on Bristol Street when it opened in 1885. When all of the charges had been met for putting up the tablet there was a balance left over of £16 16s 5d, which was handed over to the Trustees of the Savings Club. This was placed in a fund to for the purposes of paying 10s per year to the Sunday Schools to purchase books to be given as prizes to the most successful scholars. The prizes became known as the 'Redfern Prize'. |
