| Title | Letter from Mr Henry Bell, Gray's Inn, London to Mr Thomas Lee in Birmingham |
| Level | Item |
| Date | 19/03/1792 |
| Description | Mr Bell advises Mr Lee to use Messrs Warner and Son immediately to make a fresh evaluation of Dr Priestley's household goods, furniture and other effects. They are to be helped in the valuation by the evidence and information from James Timmins, Sarah Rawlison and others. He notes that Dr Priestley was deeply alarmed at the mistakes made by previous appraisers. He asks Mr Lee to meet with the defendants and their appraisers to agree on an estimate for Dr Priestley's damages. Mr Lee is urged to use the strongest witnesses available, particularly Mr Timmins, who can prove the property was in the building during the rioting and its value. Other points of discussion are the lengths of Mr Ramsey's minutes and the payment of Mr Erskine. |
