DescriptionBundle of seventeen sermons split into three new bundles comprising the following:
1. Sermon dated 24 October 1675, beginning '2. Thess[alonians]. 2. 10. Because they received not the love of the Truth that they might bee saved'.
2. Sermon dated 20 October 1689, beginning '2. Thessal[onians] 2: 13. part of it, Through Sanctification'.
3. Sermon preached by M.H. at Whitchurch, 6 August 1731, re God's Covenant, beginning 'I am now retired in order for sitting down at the table of ye Lord'.
4. Sermons preached at Wincanton, 11 October 1737 and 24 February 1744, and composed on 30 April 1733 at Meas-Dulas, beginning 'Phil. III. 20 (ye former part) For our Conversation is in Heaven, from whence we look for ye Savio[ur] ye L[or]d Jesus Christ', studying various concepts of sin, with particular emphasis on drunkenness.
5. Booklet containing copy of a sermon preached in Birmingham and other parts of the Midlands during the period 24 October 1742 - 20 July 1746, beginning 'Matth[ew]. XXIV. 12. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold'.
6. Sermons preached at Birmingham, 25 October 1747, beginning Ps[alm] 133. 1. Behold how good & how pleasant it is for Brethren to dwell together in Unity', studying various concepts of Christian unity and fellowship.
7. Sermon preached by the Reverend Mr James Clark, beginning 'The ways of Providence, mysterious at present, but to be explained Hereafter. A Sermon occasioned By the Sudden Death of the Rev[eren]d Mr. John Alexander who died 29 December 1765 aged 29'.
8. List of occasions and churches preached at across the Midlands for the period 3 April 1772 - 21 November 1819, with copy of sermon, beginning 'In ye 14 Chap[ter] of Proverbs, at ye 14 Verse [?] these words. The Backslider in Heart shall be filled with his own Ways; A Good Man shall be satisfied from himself'.
9. Booklet containing handwritten sermons preached by Mr Hawkes, 31 May 1778 - 19 February 1780.
10. Booklet containing handwritten sermons preached by Mr Hawkes and Joseph Priestley, undated, although pencil notes on front cover suggest they were written around 1785.
11. Three undated booklets comprising copy sermons beginning 'Rom[ans] 6. 11. Likewise reckon ye also your selves to be dead indeed unto Sin, but alive unto God thro[ugh] Jes[us] Chr[is]t our Lord'.
12. Bundle of 21 booklets comprising what appears to be a final draft of the sermon comprising no. 11 above, beginning 'Sermon the first. Rom[ans]. 6. 11. Likewise reckon ye your Selves to be dead indeed unto Sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord'.
13. Undated booklet comprising sermon beginning '6[th] Hosea 4. O [Ephraim], w[ha]t shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? For your goodn[ess] is as ye morning cloud, & as ye early dew, it goeth away'.
14. Undated booklet comprising sermon beginning 'Malachi. 3. 6. For I am y[ou]r Lord I change not therefore ye S[i]ns of Jacob are not con[fessed].
15. Two undated booklets comprising copies of sermons beginning '45. Isiah 22. 1 to end. Look unto me & be ye saved all ye ends of ye Earth for I am your God & ye is none else' [labelled Serm[on] 4].
16. Undated booklet comprising sermon entitled 'The bad effects of Flattery exposed'.
17. Undated booklet comprising sermon entitled 'Purity of heart described and enforced'.
18. Undated booklet comprising sermon written largely in shorthand, the title suggesting it related to a passage from the Bible taken from the First Book of Herodotus, Chapter 5.
