| Description | The early minutes of the Vestry Committee from 1771 are combined with the minutes of the Trustees of the New Meeting House (see UC 2/1/1/1). The Vestry Committee minutes include various information relating to the administration and upkeep of the church and its fabric, including some accounts and statements of income and expenditure; lists of names of members of the Vestry Committee; committee attendance figures; lists of collections, usually at the back of the volumes, relating to various funds (i.e. Poor Fund, Sunday Schools, Midland Christian Union); reports of the churchwardens regarding meetings of the Congregation; reports relating to the attendance and organisation of morning classes or Sunday Schools. The minutes covering the late eighteenth century also detail petitions made on behalf of congregations in other parts of the country for assistance, and may relate to the work of the Committee for the Management of a Subscription for Raising a Fund for the Relief of Protestant Dissenting Congregations at a Distance, which sat around the same time (see UC 2/9/1). There are also some minutes of the Meetings of the Subscribers of the New Meeting House in the early minutes (for example, see UC 2/3/3/1/1). |
