| Description | The beadle, also known as the chapel keeper, was a salaried official appointed to superintendent the general upkeep and maintenance of the church. There is one surviving file of papers relating to appointments of this official which were originally catalogued under the reference number UC 2/201 (see UC 2/3/5/1/1 below) amongst a series of papers entitled 'The Church, and its fabric' (originally catalogued as UC 2/191 - 205). Most of these related more to the general church fabric and building works, and have been catalogued under the series denoting the records of the church's buildings and grounds (see UC 2/7 below). |
