| Description | Small black notebook containing the minutes of a committee appointed at a meeting at Maple Bank, Birmingham, on 6 December 1878 chaired by the Reverend H.W. Crosskey. It was moved by the Reverend D. Maginnis and seconded by Mr T. Kenrick that a committee be appointed to consider the propriety of organising such a conference, and to cooperate with other similar committees formed elsewhere. The Reverend Maginnis was added to this list as secretary, and the committee was to meet at his call. The committee met at the Church of the Messiah, Birmingham, although its remit was potentially national. It would appear from looking at the minutes that there was a good deal of support for such a conference, but not enough to justify the committee proceeding further, and it was disbanded after just a few meetings. |
