| Description | Photographed between 08.45 and 08.50 hours, 24 July 1959. The photograph appears to have been mounted for exhibition on boards decorated with the names of the streets depicted in the photograph. This view shows the large number of private cars and smaller vehicles still remaining in Skinner Street and the open sites in the vicinity of the market. It is believed that these vehicles belonged principally to market employees. Many of the other commercial vehicles that arrived earlier in the morning (see WK/D1/161 - 162) in Dean Street and Pershore Street have disappeared. Buses using the market's diversion can be seen in Moseley Street, Sherlock Street and to a much greater extent in Hurst Street, and also leaving the city via Pershore Street. |
