| Description | Photographed between 07.30 and 07.40 hours, 19 June 1959. The photograph appears to have been mounted for exhibition on boards decorated with the names of the streets depicted in the photograph. This photograph shows clearly the congestion in Edgbaston Street where there is only one lane of moving vehicles. The photograph also shows the queue of heavy goods vehicles forming in Spiceal Street and St Martin's Lane wishing to enter the Smithfield Market. Cars and goods vehicles are parked on both the to and out of city carriageways of the Bull Ring. In Jamaica Row it will be seen that traders' vehicles are already using parts of the new carriageway for the purposes of loading produce. |
