| Description | Illustration. Caption reads: 'The Edgbaston Congregational Chapel, Birmingham. The foundation Stone of this Chapel was laid by the Rev. J A James in coomeration of his Jubilee on Tuesday Sep. 11th 1855. This chapel will supply a long felt want by those who reside in Edgbaston and it neighbourhood. It will accommodate nearly 1,000 persons & is expected to be ready for opening in August 1856. The Committee hope the liberality of Christian friends will enable them not only to open this Chapel without debt, but to extend their effort by the erection of other Chapels in different parts of this large & populous Town'.
