| Description | Hospital Centre Competition. Caption reads: 'Birmingham Hospitals Centre Competition. Figure two. The block plan of the winning design, by Lanchester and Lodge, shows buildings grouped in three roughly rectangular units, facing south. The northerly one comprises the nurses' home, with night nurses' wing and maids' home on either side. The central one is articulated about the administrative block central kitchen and chapel, and includes surgical and medical blocks, outpatients' and paying patients' departments. To the south of this are the Medical Faculty buildings, with physiology and pathological departments in the wings'. Architects' Journal 5 February 1930.
