Applicant overview: The FWCC exists to encourage fellowship among all the branches of the Religious Society of Friends. The FWCC was formed in 1937 to 'facilitate loving understanding of diversities among Friends while we discover together, with God’s help, our common spiritual ground' and 'to facilitate full expression of our Friends’ testimonies in the world'. The FWCC World Office is in London and there are Section offices with secretaries and committee structures to serve the four FWCC Sections: Europe & the Middle East Section, Section of the Americas, Africa Section and Asia-West Pacific Section. Nature of support: In 1981 the Trust approved a grant of £2,000 for the FWCC to allow two Friends to attend the UN Special Session on Disarmament held in New York in 1982. In 1982 the Trust provided a grant of £1,000 towards the completion of a FWCC history. Later that year the Trust approved the renewal of annual grants of £2,200 to the London FWCC office, agreed to underwrite a revenue deficit of up to £1,500 by the London office, approved a single grant of £1,500 towards FWCC mediation in Kenya and renewed FWCC South Africa grants for three years at £2,500 per annum. In 1984 the Trust made a grant of £2,000 towards the Triennial Third World Friends Meeting in Mexico. In 1985 the Trust renewed grants to the London FWCC office for three further years only. Support for the Africa section was increased to £3,000 for the years 1986, 1987 and 1988.
