Applicant overview: Quaker Peace and Service (QPS, now Quaker Peace and Social Witness, QPSW) was formed by the union of the Friends Service Council and the Friends Peace Committee. The Ulster Quaker Service Committee (UQSC) is a small voluntary organisation engaged in projects that are a committed to the Quaker faith. The Ulster Quarterly Meeting of Friends established UQSC in 1969 in order to address the emerging conflict in Northern Ireland. The UQSC operates a visitor centre in Maze Prison, a lunch club for the elderly, a family holiday scheme, a transport service, an activity centre at Quaker Cottage, works with unemployed youth and community employment schemes. Nature of support: In 1985 the Trust approved two annual grants of £5,500 for office administration costs of UQSC. In 1987 the Trust made three further annual grants of £6,500 per annum.
