Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: UM is a Priority Educational Programmes for Action and Research (PEPAR) initiative. PERPAR was established as a registered charity in 1975 initially as the research wing of Priority Area Playgroups and Day Care Centres. The UM project began in January 1986 and involves awareness raising through the publication of the journal, 'Trendwatch' and the development of an infrastructure which would promote the development of further initiatives aimed at combating the many problems brought about by continuing unemployment.
