| Description | Grant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overview, project proposals, reports and funding requests relating to food sector research proposed by the Birmingham City Council (BCC) Economic Development Department. Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: A proposal put forward by the BCC Economic Development Department identified substantial market gaps in the Afro-Caribbean food market. Further research into this specific area was recommended in order to 1) survey black entrepreneurs operating in the food industry, 2) review current trends and developments in UK food production, 3) consider possible applications of new technology in black-food sector businesses, 4) examine the feasibility of creating a resource centre for businesses operating in this sector, and 5) study the need for further research and for similar strategies for Asian and other minority food sectors in the West Midlands. Nature of support: In 1986 the Trust approved a single grant of £4,000 towards research requirements for the project. Minutes: B&GSCT 6611. Notes: File 'a' contains the main grant file sequence. File 'b' contains supplementary reports. File organised by date from newest to oldest. File numbered 'JM/F/2'. |
