Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The WMCPFA became a registered charity in 1977 as the West Midland Caribbean Association (WMCA). The Association has the objective of promoting any charitable purposes for the benefit of the persons of West Indian descent who are resident in the West Midlands and in particular the advancement of education and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress among them and the provision of recreational facilities to improve conditions of life of such inhabitants. In furtherance of these objects the Association aims to, 1) provide adequate advisory and consulting services for men and women facing matrimonial problems, 2) provide temporary accommodation and support for young persons in need, 3) give cultural lectures, talks and seminars, 4) provide for outings for the elderly, and, 5) promote co-operation with other members of the community. Nature of support: In 1988 the Trust approved two annual grants of up to £12,500 per annum in support of a series of WMCPFA training workshops.
