Applicant overview: Youthaid was established by the union of a number of youth organisations to address issues relating to youth unemployment. It was registered as a charity in 1977. Youthaid aims to 1) advance the education of young persons who are unemployed by providing vocational training, 2) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreational and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for such young persons, 3) promote or undertake research into the causes and solutions of unemployment among young people, into the education and training of such young people and into the problems of such young people in their communities and to publish resulting research. Nature of support: In 1987 the Trust agreed to a further year of support at £10,000 per annum. In 1989 this was renewed for three years for the same amount.
