| Description | Grant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overview, project proposal and funding requests relating to the Northern Ireland Community Development Review (NICDR). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Paul S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The NICDR originated from a 1989 proposal of the Community Development Review Group (CDRG) of the Rural Action Project (RAG) based in Derry. The aim of the review is to, 1) investigate existing education and training support for community development at all levels in Northern Ireland, 2) review existing reports and other literature on education and training support for community development to provide an information base, 3) define and make clearer the relationships between education and training for community development and community and adult education, 4) look at existing mainstream and at other providers including libraries and the youth service, 5) look at all levels from 'basic' to 'degree' level and to ascertain where gaps exist in such support, 6) look at the lack of any third level community development education course in Northern Ireland, 7) examine possible links with relevant educational initiatives in the Republic of Ireland, and 8) report back to the CDRG with appropriate recommendations for the strengthening and development of adequate education and training support for community development in Northern Ireland. Nature of support: In 1989 the Paul S. Cadbury Trust declined to support the research proposal. In 1991 the Trust declined a further proposal in the hope that the grant would be met by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust. Minutes: B&GSCT 7396, PSCT 758. Notes: File organised by date from newest to oldest. File not numbered. |
