Applicant overview: ACA was established in 1988 to serve the small community of Aughakillymaude, County Fermanagh. ACA aims to 1) provide an opportunity for local people to meet and interact with one another, 2) rekindle the community spirit that was once so evident in the locality through appropriate activities and projects, 3) revive the culture and traditions of the area's past that are dying out, 4) foster a more caring attitude towards the old and the lonely and to break down their loneliness and isolation, and 5) encourage the youth to develop a sense of community and to participate fully in that community. Nature of support: In 1989 the ACA received a grant of single grant of £5,000 from the Paul S. Cadbury Trust. A second single grant of £5,000 was approved in 1990 to be put toward building costs.
