Applicant overview: The Agency provides support and advice services on immigration and asylum matters for the region. Much of the IISA's remit includes casework and advocacy. IISA has also established a Midlands Immigration Practitioners Group (MIPG) for greater information exchange, improvement in casework practice and a collective lobby for changes in rules and regulations. Nature of support: In 1998 three annual grants of £22,000 were allocated to salaries, overhead and start-up costs for the IISA's Asylum and Detention Project.
