Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: HCT is a charity that is constituted as a trust and was registered with the Charity Commission on 19th December 1989. The three primary aims of the HCT are to, 1) encourage support for staff and students of the Bethlehem Bible College, 2) support the Christian education and welfare of young people and provide Christian outreach together with community support and care in the 'Bible Lands' through its support of The Shepard's Society, and 3) work and support projects involving young people and children, particularly those with special needs. A project supported by the HCT is the House of Joy in Bethlehem. The House of Joy aims to, 1) give a caring, supportive, family atmosphere in which girls can live and develop, 2) develop the limited mental capacities the girls have to the full, through appropriate support, encouragement, teaching and training, 3) prepare girls for adult life through encouraging social skills and necessary for more independent living, and 4) encourage them in a personal Christian faith and prayerfully develop their spiritual life.
