Applicant overview: CSIE is an independent centre, set up in 1982, actively supporting inclusive education as a human right of every child. CSIE is being sustained by small grants and donations, as well as additional income from the sale of publications and services. CSIE work is driven by a commitment to overcome barriers to learning and participation for all children and young people. CSIE activities include lobbying and campaigning, research, training, consultancy and dissemination of information. Nature of support: In 1995 the Disability Programme recommended three years of continued support to CSIE at £25,000. In 1996 on the advice of Relevant Trustees of the Disability Programme a single, renewable grant of £5,000 was allocated for travel and conference expenses. In 1997 the Trust approved a grant of £15,000 for 1997/1998 plus two years of additional grants of up to £40,000 per annum, £10,000 of which would be used for underwriting. In 1999 annual support of £40,000 per annum was confirmed. In 2000 the Trust agreed to further grants of £50,000 for 2002/2003, 2003/2004 and 2004/2005. In 2002 the Trust approved a single grant of £7,000 towards the costs of a co-ordinators post and publication expenses.
