Applicant overview: MYILS is a company, limited by guarantee with charitable status, set up to promote independent living for disabled people. MYILS aims to, 1) raise general awareness of direct payments and the option of independent living, 2) provide opportunities to enable disabled people to explore, and, 3) offer support, information and advice to assist people to access direct payments. Nature of support: In 1997 on the advice of Disability Programme Relevant Trustees the Trust approved two grants of up to £20,000 to MYILS. In 1999 support at this level was approved for three years. In 2000 payments were transferred to the Fund. In 2001 training and conference grants were agreed at £10,000 for 2001/2002 and £20,000 for 2002/2003 and 2003/2004.
