Applicant overview: Awaaz was established as the first voluntary group for South Asian women in Wolverhampton. Awaaz is an independent charitable organisation set up in 1984 by a group of Asian women concerned by the lack of awareness around issues affecting South Asian women, including gaps in service provision and access to rights and opportunities. Awaaz exists to empower South Asian women and acts as an advocate with the aim of improving quality of life and enabling them to play a positive role in the cultural, social, economic and political life of Wolverhampton.
