This community served as an inspiration to George Cadbury in founding Bournville. The BDC was set up as a non-profit making company to preserve the traditions, history and ethos of the village of Bessbrook. A primary aim of the BDC is to purchase and maintain a worker's cottage located near the site of the Richardson linen mill.
