Applicant overview: In 1990 Norma Baldwin, who founded the Centre for Child Protection in 1988, applied for support for a research project in collaboration between University of Warwick and the NSPCC to explore the child support and protection needs of Asian families in Coventry and Sandwell. The project aims to discover the views about resources needed to support families and prevent risks of abuse and investigate the most appropriate service provision to meet the needs of the children and parents. The resulting proposal was entitled the Hifazat/Surukhia Asian Children and Families Project. Nature of support: In 1992 the Trust approved two annual grants of £15,000 to the project.
