Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd., Racial Justice Programme. Applicant overview: In 1996 the Runnymede Trust approached the Trust for support to carry out an RT led research project into the educational disadvantages for black and minority young ethnic people. The project aims to map, 1) current and projected experience of young black and minority ethnic people in the primary and secondary education system, 2) national initiatives which week to address various aspects of education disadvantage and racial inequality, and 3) evaluations which exist about the impact on young people of such initiatives. Nature of support: In 1996 the Trust or Fund, as appropriate, agreed to allocate £12,000 to the RT research proposal. That same year payments were transferred from the Fund to the Trust and increased by over one thousand pounds.
