The Centre is Buddhist by faith and aims to catalyse reconciliation and non-violence among different ethnic communities in Sri Lanka and further rural community development. DIMCSD has been active throughout the peace process and Sri Lanka, specifically in seeking negotiations between parties involved and solutions to the conflict. Nature of support: In 2000 the Trust approved three annual grants of £8,000 to the Dharmavedi Institute in Sri Lanka to help launch new premises and programmes. This grant was subsequently increased to £10,000 for the first year and reduced to £7,000 for the two subsequent years.
