The Edendale Lay Ecumenical Centre (ELEC) is located in rural South Africa. The project enjoys church support and is administered entirely by blacks, though it aims to accommodate whites and blacks (through under separate roofs). ELEC runs youth and community leadership courses as well as courses in domestic science. A nursery school and crèche also serve the Edendale community. Turret Correspondence College (TCC) is based in South Africa and aims to provide basic and professional courses to the black community. Nature of support: In 1972 the Trust approved a grant of £650 over three years to employ a female social worker at ELEC. In 1974 three annual grants of £4,000 were approved by the Trust for the TCC.
