Applicant overview: ADIU was created in April 1978 with the support of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation as an independent body based at the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex. The purpose of the unit is to collect, collate and disseminate information relating to defence, disarmament and arms control. The unit takes no policy positions but seeks to promote a better understanding of the importance and complexity of problems in the field of armament and disarmament, particularly in the United Kingdom. Nature of support: In 1985 the Trust made an unconditional grant of £2,500 towards developing the work of Third World ADIU.
