Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: Mothers for Peace (MFP) was created to oppose Cold War militarism by supporting travel to the United States and the Soviet Union. In 1984 peace activists organised 'The Other Economic Summit' to occur during the G7 Summit to discuss sustainable development, social justice issues and other peace subjects. War Registers' International (WRI) was formed in the Netherlands in 1921 to oppose war and promote peace. Nature of support: The Trust provided a single grant of £500 to MFP in 1983. Subsequent support was declined. The Fund provided a £5,000 grant followed by a further £1,000 grant to The Other Economic Summit for 1984 and 1985 respectively. In 1985 the Fund approved a £500 conference grant for WRI beyond annual grants of £350.
